You have three numbers: BIA says 22%, skinfold says 19%, Navy says 24%. Which one is right? Probably none of them. But the average might be close. I’ve been in this situation hundreds of times. A client comes in with a folder full of printouts from their smart scale, their gym’s BIA machine, and an online calculator. Each number is different. Why average methods Each method has error. The error can be random or systematic. If you have DEXA, you don’t need to average. That’s your number. If you don’t have DEXA, use the methods you have access to.
